Ruffled Shirt To Skirt

I got this ruffled shirt at a benefit rummage sale.

As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to make a skirt out of it.

My daughter Emily was with me and she said that I was a little too

excited when I picked it up.

What can I say...this is about as exciting as my life gets!

I cut off the top and got to work.

I folded over the top to create the casing for the elastic.

Sewed the casing leaving an opening for the elastic.

Then threaded the elastic through.

Voila! A new skirt to wear to church tomorrow!

I love it!

You would never know it used to be a size 14/16 ruffled shirt.

It will be our secret! :)

Enter the Az State Fair!

The Az State Fair is around the corner and that means...it's time to enter!! This is such a great way to showcase your child's hard work & talent! Your child's items will go on display during the fair, they may win ribbons and earn some cash! All entries can be done online. It costs $1.00 per item. Now for the best part...if you bring your items to my house on or before Sept. 15th I will drive them down to the fairgrounds for you. I will also bring them back after the fair is over. Hot Pink & Zebra!

Brighton made this fantastic skirt, headband & flowers to model in the upcoming fashion show at the Maricopa County Fair in a few weeks. The skirt is pleated and has a zipper in the back. The flowers were Brighton's touch! She is going to make one heck of a fashion designer someday!!
