10 Minute Skirt Tutorial

It has been a month since I moved and haven't been able to find my USB cord for my camera. I have a back log of pics that needed to be uploaded. I offered a $5.00 reward and within 3 minutes someone had found it! Amazing how that works!!
Emily & I found this fabulous vintage pillowcase at a yard sale for $3.00. We both agreed that it screamed skirt to us.

This reminds me of my Grandmother who made so many things like this.
She never sat still. She was amazing!
Measure from the waist down to however long you want your skirt and add 3" for the casing. We wanted our skirt 19" so we cut it at 22".

Fold over the top of the skirt twice and pin. Double pin on either side of opening. Start sewing at your double pins and end at your double pins.

Sew around the edge of the fabric to create the casing for the elastic.

Thread the elastic through the opening.

Sew the two ends of the elastic together.

Sew up the opening and you are done!

So adorable and easy!!

Re-purpose Sweater Wrap

I to a sweater that I have had for years and cut off the bottom just under the armpits. Serge the raw edge. Fold & pin. Turn under the serged side and sew along to finish off the bottom edge. I gathered down one side using a gathering stitch from the top to the bottom. Sew it with a regular 2.5 stitch to secure it. I took about a yard of black satin ribbon and gathered down one side. Then wrapped it around into the shape of a flower. Sewed through the center to secure it. Then added some left-over sweater piece for the center of the flower. And finished it off with some beads. I can't wait to wear it with the new black dress I just bought!
